Hike-to campground. Private sites, lota of hiking and scenic vistas nearby

Beautiful quiet camping area. Lots of hiking trails with views and water falls.

There are at least three trailheads in the campground. Two of these trails take you to the summit. There also is a water pump on site. I would rate this campground higher if it wasn't for the walk in and out and the lack of staffing during the day. If you have something to put your gear in that has wheels I suggest using it. Bring everything you need because fire wood and water are the only two items you can get on site. It's a very cool campground and I suggest using it but just be prepared for the walk.

The campground is very nice. Each site has its own bear box, it's very clean and you can purchase bundles of campfire wood for $5 each which is delivered between 5:30 and 7:00 pm. I saw a bear with two grown Cubs so use the bear box! There are no showers and the rangers stop by occasionally with no set schedule that I know of. The composting outhouses are amazingly clean and nearly odorless. They are cleanest outhouses I've ever seen while camping.

One issue that decreased my rating was the lack of access to the campground by vehicle. Even though there is a well maintained dirt road in to the site it's only accessable by vehicle to the rangers. So be prepared to have to carry your belongings in and out. The walk is roughly a mile and a half to the beginning of the sites. So if site 1 is 1 1/2 miles and you're at the back of the campground you can add another mile to that walk. I suggest dropping your gear at the gate rather than the parking lot.

Very clean and a it was a great hike in from the farm. There was a ranger who delivered wood. The water from the hand-pump was excellent....... no taste of any additives and very cold. Can't wait to return.
